Ingredients:

Jin Yin Hua (Flos Lonicerae) is used to clear heat and detoxify. Pharmacological and clinical info: Jim Yin Hua has a strong inhibitory effect in vitro against many pathological bacteria including Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphyloccus aureus and Streptoccus pneumonia. It is generally regarded as especially effective against Salmonella. It has some anti viral properties and is said to be able to deactivate the PR 8 strain of influenza virus.

Lian Qiao (Fructus Forsythiae) is used to clear heat and dissipate nodules. Hence it is used for “hot sores” carbuncles and mumps. It is considered similar to Jin Yin Hua but is especially good for treating Shigella spp. And Staphyloccaus aureus. It is reported that in 6 or 8 cases tested, a decoction of this herb was able to help treat acute nephritis and caused the disappearance of edema and proteinuria.

Ban Lan Gen (Radix Isatidis) has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial effects and is often selected for its’ anti-viral properties. It has been used frequently to treat encephalitis B and Hepatitis. In one study of 50 people, 92% were reported to have restoration of liver function within one month.

Niu Bang Zi (Fructus Arcti Lappae) is used to detoxify fire poisons. Because it encourages rashes to come to the surface, it is used for carbuncles, erythemas, mumps, etc.

Jing Jie (Schizonepeta) also encourages rashes to the surface and may reduce fevers.

Jie Geng (Radix Platycodi) circulates lung Qi and helps to eliminate phlegm in the area of the throat and lungs. In one study on anesthetized dogs and cats the herb was able to markedly reduce secretions from the respiratory tract.

Yu Xing Cao (Herbs Houttuyniae) is also referred to as the fishy smelling herb. It has a broad range of anti-microbial properties and has been shown to inhibit the growth of both influenza and ECHO viruses in human culture medium. It has also been shown to be highly effective in the treatment of bacterial pneumonia.

Gan Cao (Glycyrrhiza) supports the bodies’ energy to resist toxicity and microbes. It has broad anti-inflammatory properties and strengthens the bodies’ resistance to inflammation.
